Anna’s Crossing by Suzanne Woods Fisher
The Charming Nancy, a merchant ship set to sail across the Atlantic ocean with a load of Amish Believers headed to the New world. One of those many passengers is Anna Konig, being the only one in her community who can speak English she is making the voyage as their translator. Her thoughts are to finish the journey and return home to where she feels she belongs if they survive the ocean crossing.
To Bairn, the ships carpenter this is another voyage toward working his way up the ladder to becoming the First Mate. All he wants to do his get this journey over with and put his past behind him, but it seems there is other thing in the works. The more time he spends with the group dubbed Peculiars by the ship hands, the more his nights are interrupted with dreams.
As delays, storms, illnesses and the diminishing provisions test each and everyone on the ship, will they make it to New World? When Anna is caught in a very dangerous situation, Bairn comes to her rescue while making a earth-shattering discovery of his own. Will this revelation reveal the deep longing down deep inside both of them and provide healing for both Bairn and Anna.
Suzanne Woods Fisher takes a leap into history taking us back to the beginnings of the Amish Life in the New World. Giving us a glimpse into the ocean crossing and two of the lives of the people that braved the journey.
